GSTS attends John Roan School Careers Fair

Wednesday 26, January 2011

GSTS Pathology was recently invited to attend the John Roan School Science Careers Fair to talk to year 11 and 12 students about careers in Pathology.

Central Specimen Reception (CSR) Manager Claire Hay and Recruitment Manager Kevin Feely talked students through the range of diverse roles offered by GSTS and had the opportunity to discuss with students what career paths they can take at GSTS.

“It’s great to get out to these events, meet with young people and understand where they want to go in their careers,” Kevin said.

“We want to get people involved and excited about science when they are still at school, so that they understand that with a scientific background there is a great breadth of potential careers waiting for them. We encourage anyone with an interest in science and Pathology to consider coming to work with us.”

Claire Hay was able to offer students first-hand experience of the career opportunities that GSTS offers.

“I started my career as a Medical Laboratory Assistant and was able to progress through the organisation, gaining experience in a number of roles to become the CSR Manager. I think anyone whether at school, university or beginning their career wants to know that there is opportunity for diversity and advancement in the organisation they work for – which there is at GSTS,” she said.
